Big Tech platforms MLOps Engineer Interview Loop
At the big platforms, MLOps engineer interviews have mostly merged with ML engineering loops. The title is rare in job postings, but the work, shipping models as software, is everywhere. The loop shows that. There's a coding screen, an ML fundamentals round, an ML system design round, and a production round. At big tech, all of this sits inside the standard engineering loop, with coding at the software engineering bar. Amazon tests Leadership Principles in every round and adds a Bar Raiser.
Practice by round
SQL basics at speed, plus Python concepts asked out loud, like generators, lists, and a dictionary as a data store. There are short ML questions too, such as what overfitting looks like in production.
SQL at loop level on event, order and ticket tables: daily active users, consecutive days, processed rates by type and rolling averages. Then the database ideas under a pipeline: normalization, joins, missing values, and how a CTE runs.

Production ML design. You trace the path from raw data to a served recommender, like People You May Know, an ad-platform recommender or a location-based recommender. Engineering questions sit next to it, like comparing the performance of two engines, computational tricks and subpopulations. Interviewers check whether you name what breaks and how you'd know. Drawing the standard diagram isn't enough.

| Feed Ranking Impact Experiment | Hard |
Enough ML to run it in production: bias and variance, what a perfect classification score is telling you, and few labeled instances. You'll also explain how you'd check a model change with a feed-ranking impact experiment before a full rollout. And interviewers still open with the classical basics.
