Amazon Interview Loops

Amazon runs the same process for every data role. First a recruiter screen, then a technical step, then four to five interviews. The technical step is an online test, a phone screen, or both, and each one ends with a Leadership Principles question. Two things make Amazon different. One is the Bar Raiser. This is an interviewer from outside the team, whose job is to say no, and who can block the hire alone. The other is that Leadership Principles aren't one interview. They're in all of them. Each interviewer checks you on a few principles, even when you're talking about a query or a model. Candidates say the behavioral part fails as many people as the technical part. So before more SQL practice, prepare six to eight real stories with numbers in them, and link each one to a principle. One more thing: at Amazon, data analysts are called Business Intelligence Engineers.
