Uber Interview Loops
Uber's data interviews start with a recruiter call, and even that checks how well you know SQL. Next is a technical screen, then about four interviews on video: SQL, a product or operations case, statistics and experiments, and behavioral. A Bar Raiser leads the final discussion and has a big say in your level. Rides, Eats, Freight and Safety each do it a bit differently, and some teams add a take-home. L3 and L4 candidates go through the same interviews, and your level is decided after. What makes Uber different is its marketplace. Every case has two sides, riders and drivers. An incentive that brings in more drivers ends up costing riders. The experiment questions also go deeper than anywhere else, into what to do when you can't run a clean A/B test. People who prepare for a general big-tech interview pass the SQL, then get stuck when the case has two sides.
