Social, media & entertainment Product Analyst Interview Loop
Product analyst roles here sit closest to product management, and the product analyst interview tests product sense, with SQL as the gate. There's a recruiter call, then a screen that opens with a product case and then asks for the SQL that would prove it. After that come four to five interviews: product-improvement rounds, an analytical round, and execution and culture. Netflix's product analysts get its focus on measurement. Spotify's get the take-home and presentation. Across social and streaming companies, one question keeps coming back: how would you know a feature worked?
Companies behind this pattern
Practice by round
SQL basics on product tables, written fast so the conversation can get back to the product. Practice the query as the second half of an answer. Name the metric first, then compute it.

Engagement, retention and funnel SQL at medium to hard, with cohort logic and window functions. Then come the follow-ups. How would you measure what you just computed? What could confound it? Which of two experiment results would you trust? How would you size an opportunity from the table in front of you?

The product-improvement interviews. You take a feature, like a music-streaming recommendation engine, feed ranking, an AI-enhanced live-streaming feature or personalized content. Then you go from a goal to a success metric to the first experiment. Interviewers push on whether your metrics follow from your reasoning.
