Google BI Analyst Interview Loop
Reports on the Google BI analyst interview agree on how it opens. There's a recruiter call, then a timed SQL screen before anything else happens. It's about 30 minutes, live, and sometimes includes Python. After that, loops differ. Usually there's a technical interview, a hiring-manager round and a cross-functional one. Ask your recruiter for the exact list, because it changes by organization.
What decides it
Clean SQL under time, and structured answers in the manager rounds. Candidates who treat the later rounds as a chat don't get through.
Practice by round
This is where BI loops at large companies most often end. The questions aren't hard. You'll get joins, aggregations, and a ranking or filtering problem. But candidates keep saying the clock made them harder than they looked.
Deeper SQL, with window functions, CTEs and multi-table joins. The data covers video flags, email labels, department workforce and hotel ratings. BI interviewers also ask about the model behind the query, so be ready for that next.
A product or campaign case where some information is missing. It might be storage-plan usage, two metrics that disagree, or what success looks like for recommended news. You're scored on how you scope it, the assumptions you say out loud, and what you recommend. Then come the projects, where you build the analysis end to end. One has latency outliers you need to detect before you can report on them.

The statistics a BI analyst is expected to know. That's averages versus medians, standard error and margin of error, sampling distributions and Type I error. There are no derivations. Under every question sits the same one: can this number be trusted?
