Non-US Uploads and Engagement

You must be logged in to download the datasets

TikTok: Compute upload and engagement statistics by country for non-US markets in May 2026.

Assignment

You're an analyst on the content analytics team at TikTok. The international growth team is preparing a May 2026 review of non-US markets, and wants upload and engagement statistics by country from the latest video upload export.

Deliverables

  • For each non-US country, for May 2026: the number of uploads, the average video duration, total views, and the average engagement rate per video — with a clear statement of how you define the engagement rate.
  • A short closing report for the international growth team: your findings, and anything in the data that affected how you computed the numbers.

Data Description

tiktok_video_uploads.csv has one row per uploaded video:

  • video_id
  • country_code - two-letter country code of the upload
  • upload_date
  • duration_seconds - video length in seconds
  • views
  • likes
  • comments

Practicalities

You can solve this in Python, SQL, or a mix of both — StrataScratch notebooks support both languages in the same notebook.

Assume this data comes directly from the upload logging system and hasn't been cleaned, so review it carefully before relying on the numbers. When something looks off, work out what it is and decide how to handle it; when a definition or a final decision is genuinely ambiguous, choose a reasonable option and explain why. There's often more than one valid way to compute a result, so explain the approach you take and the reasoning behind your choices.

What's assessed: your results, and how clearly you explain what you see in the data and justify the choices you make.
